About The Position

The Klau Institute, founded in 1973, seeks to advance the God-given dignity of all human persons through an integrative approach to civil and human rights. As part of the Keough School of Global Affairs, the Institute provides transformative education, innovative research, and meaningful engagement. This role will champion the next generation of human rights leaders by developing and implementing dynamic academic student programming in civil and human rights. The Program Manager will also champion research and policy initiatives led by faculty and Institute leadership, and manage all student and faculty research and travel grant opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (4 years)
  • 1 to 2 years of experience
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Professional demeanor and ability to interact with students and faculty in a variety of disciplines
  • Experience with advising students and developing programming
  • Required facility with Google Suite

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate degree preferred
  • Preferred familiarity with academic systems such as Courseleaf, PATH, GPS, Academic Course Management
  • Preferred demonstrated interest in and knowledge of Civil and Human Rights

Responsibilities

  • Lead the recruitment of Civil and Human Rights (CHR) minors.
  • Advise students and maintain accurate records for all enrolled minors using the Graduation Progress System (GPS).
  • Collaborate to build CHR minor courses in Courseleaf.
  • Lead or co-lead student initiatives, including the Melsheimer Fellows program, ND Votes, human rights "Lunch 'n Learn" events, student affiliate programs, and CHR minor programming.
  • Partner on domestic and international experiential learning placements, potentially traveling to lead students on educational immersion experiences.
  • Manage all aspects of the student research, travel, and internship grant cycle, from application to final selection, including reporting processes.
  • Oversee the entire faculty research and travel grant cycle, handling logistics for applications, reporting, tracking metrics, and coordinating the faculty selection committee.
  • Serve as the project manager for various research and policy initiatives for both faculty and students.
  • Assist faculty in translating academic research into actionable policy briefs.
  • Support the Associate Director in developing academic reports about the Institute.
  • Provide research and writing support for grant applications.
  • Actively participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and assigned events.
  • Participate in Keough School communities of practice.
