About The Position

Pilot Company is seeking a Cloud Operations Intern to join their team in Knoxville, Tennessee, for the summer of 2027. This internship offers hands-on experience supporting cloud infrastructure and application migration efforts. The intern will be an integral part of the Cloud Operations team, supporting the maintenance, optimization, and expansion of their AWS cloud platform and contributing to cloud migration initiatives. This role provides exposure to cloud operations, infrastructure automation, and application support, while helping teams adopt cloud-based solutions. The internship emphasizes strengthening technical skills and growing within a collaborative team that values innovation, continuous learning, and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with Python is required.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to build relationships across multiple teams.

  • Exposure to Terraform, Git repositories, AWS cloud technologies, and Linux operating systems is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support cloud migration initiatives by assisting with migrating applications and infrastructure from on-premises data centers into AWS.
  • Maintain cloud platforms by contributing to the ongoing support, monitoring, and maintenance of Pilot's AWS environment and hosted applications.
  • Develop and automate solutions by writing and maintaining code using Python and Terraform for infrastructure automation, platform enhancements, and operational efficiencies.
  • Provide operational support by monitoring ServiceNow tickets, troubleshooting issues, participating in break-fix activities, and resolving cloud-related incidents.
  • Collaborate across teams by partnering with application teams across the organization (Energy, Retail, and Supply Chain) to onboard applications to the cloud and implement platform guardrails and best practices.
