About The Position

Baltic Street Wellness Solutions is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Program Director to lead and oversee our Peer-Based Supported Education and Employment Program. This program is designed to empower individuals with lived experience of mental health and/or substance use challenges to pursue both their educational and employment goals with the support of trained peer mentors. The Program Director will play a critical role in program development, implementation, supervision, and evaluation to ensure participants receive high-quality, recovery-oriented services that promote educational attainment and sustainable employment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, education, vocational rehabilitation, public health, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in program management, preferably in peer support, supported education, supported employment, mental health, or related services.
  • Lived experience with mental health or substance use recovery and/or significant experience working in peer or employment support services.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and support diverse teams, including peer and employment staff.
  • Strong skills in program development, administration, and evaluation.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to recovery-oriented, person-centered, and trauma-informed practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification as a peer specialist, employment specialist, or equivalent.
  • Experience working in educational settings, employment services, or with academic/vocational accommodations.
  • Familiarity with local education, employment, mental health, and social service systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage all aspects of the peer-based supported education and employment program in alignment with organizational mission and values.
  • Develop and maintain program policies, procedures, and workflows that promote recovery, equity, inclusion, educational success, and employment stability.
  • Monitor program goals, outcomes, and deliverables; ensure compliance with funding and regulatory requirements.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise peer specialists, employment specialists, and other program staff.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for the team.
  • Foster a positive team culture that values collaboration, mutual support, and continuous learning.
  • Ensure that peer services and employment support are delivered in a trauma-informed, strengths-based, and culturally responsive manner.
  • Provide oversight for job readiness training, career exploration, job search assistance, and workplace accommodations advocacy.
  • Address participant concerns and barriers to educational or employment engagement, advocating as necessary with educational institutions, employers, and community partners.
  • Build and sustain relationships with educational institutions, employers, vocational rehabilitation services, mental health and substance use service providers, and other stakeholders.
  • Represent the program at community meetings, conferences, and on relevant committees.
  • Coordinate with Senior Peer to create in-community events for increased awareness and buy-in from the community.
  • Collect, analyze, and report data on program activities and outcomes related to both education and employment. This will occur monthly, quarterly and annually.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance program effectiveness, participant satisfaction, and employment retention.
  • Provide an ongoing audit of program deliverables to ensure program targets are achieved.
