About The Position

The YMCA of the Black Hills in Rapid City is seeking a passionate Program Director to join their leadership team. This role is crucial in shaping experiences that make the Rapid City YMCA a place where kids grow, families connect, and individuals discover their potential. The position involves overseeing a variety of programs including youth sports leagues, enrichment programs, tournaments, special events, and facility rentals, all aimed at serving and strengthening the community. The Director will be responsible for recruiting, training, and supporting coaches and volunteers, and ensuring a safe, positive, and memorable experience for all participants. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact daily through organizing events, managing rentals, and developing new programs based on community needs.

Requirements

• At least two years of experience in recreation, youth programming, sports management, education, nonprofit leadership, event coordination, or a related field.
• Strong organizational and leadership skills.
• Positive attitude.
• Willingness to jump in wherever needed.
• Enjoy working with people.
• Ability to manage multiple projects at once.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, train, and support coaches and volunteers.
• Oversee the planning and execution of youth and adult sports leagues, enrichment activities, tournaments, and community events.
• Ensure every participant has a safe, positive, and memorable experience.
• Organize tournaments, coordinate birthday parties, manage facility rentals, and launch new programs based on community needs.
• Build relationships with local schools, sports organizations, community partners, and YMCA members.
• Create opportunities for engagement and growth within the community.
• Strengthen the Y's presence throughout the community.
