About The Position

The YMCA of the Black Hills in Rapid City is seeking a passionate Program Director to join their leadership team. This role is crucial in shaping the experiences offered at the Rapid City YMCA, fostering an environment where children develop, families connect, and individuals reach their potential. The position involves overseeing a variety of programs including youth sports leagues, enrichment activities, tournaments, special events, and facility rentals, all aimed at serving and strengthening the community.

Requirements

  • At least two years of experience in recreation, youth programming, sports management, education, nonprofit leadership, event coordination, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Positive attitude.
  • Willingness to jump in wherever needed.
  • Enjoy working with people.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Belief in the YMCA mission and excitement about serving others.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, train, and support coaches and volunteers.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of youth and adult sports leagues, enrichment activities, tournaments, and community events.
  • Ensure participants have a safe, positive, and memorable experience.
  • Organize tournaments, coordinate birthday parties, manage facility rentals, and launch new programs based on community needs.
  • Build relationships with local schools, sports organizations, community partners, and YMCA members.
  • Communicate effectively, solve problems, and build connections to strengthen the Y's community presence.
