About The Position

HX5 is seeking a Data Links & Communication Engineer to support the HNA Division at Hanscom Air Force Base, MA. This role involves interfacing with various federal and defense agencies to ensure data link communications capability meets business and technical rules, providing expertise in Developmental and Operational Test and Evaluation, and advising on C4 issues. The engineer will also support pre-launch planning, aircraft-weapon communications, real-time targeting, and assist program leadership with performance, schedule, and cost issues. Key responsibilities include defining and documenting networking parameters, supporting interoperability testing, developing Joint CONEMP and COMSEC strategies, integrating weapons into TDL environments, and completing documentation for Link-16 messages and USMTF formats. The position also requires supporting agile communications initiatives and providing engineering support to DoD TDL agencies.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in engineering and at least fifteen (15) years of relevant experience which must be in Data Links and Communication engineering experience, five (5) of which must be in the DoD.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.
  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain a Top-Secret clearance by date of hire.
  • Must be able to travel, including air travel.

Nice To Haves

  • ABET accredited engineering degree preferred.
  • Experience with Cloud, Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), JIRA, Confluence, Git, and Cameo tool preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with various federal and defense agencies including FAA, DISA, NSA, Service Acquisition Executive, JMPS, and others to ensure data link communications capability meets business and technical rules.
  • Provide resources experienced in Developmental and Operational Test and Evaluation at both sub-system and system levels.
  • Advise on C4 issues, support pre-launch planning, and assist with aircraft-weapon communications and real-time targeting.
  • Assist program Chief Engineer, IPT Leads, PMs, and joint combined test team customers on performance, schedule, and cost issues.
  • Define and document networking parameter configurations for CNR to balance capability and implementation impact.
  • Support interoperability testing of weapon configurations with various launch platforms/controllers and ground Joint Terminal Attack Controllers.
  • Develop, document, and present a Joint CONEMP that supports various command architectures and communication networks like LINK-16 and UHF/CNR.
  • Formulate a Joint approach for COMSEC cryptologic data transmission to weapons and controllers.
  • Develop and document Joint Service strategies for integrating weapons into TDL environments.
  • Complete the development and documentation of Link-16 J11.X messages within a Joint Service CM strategy.
  • Define and document specifications for network-enabled weapon systems for interoperability.
  • Document the Joint Doctrine Change Recommendation for Digitally Aided Close Air Support.
  • Complete and document USMTF formats for weapon operations and support USMTF integration into standards.
  • Support agile communications initiatives and activities.
  • Provide engineering support to DoD TDL agencies for weapon system interoperability in JINTACCS forums.
