About The Position

The Chinese-American Planning Council (CPC) is seeking a Program Coordinator for the Learn and Earn (L&E) Program at Franklin Delano Roosevelt High School in Brooklyn, NY. The Learn and Earn Program provides work readiness skills training, college access support, leadership development, and employment opportunities for youth and young adults. The Program Coordinator will foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere, manage a caseload of students, develop and implement after-school activities, document student progress, conduct worksite visits, and ensure participants achieve program outcomes. This role involves data entry into the DYCD database, collaboration with school staff and community partners, and supporting participant outreach and enrollment strategies. The CPC is a leading social services organization dedicated to the social and economic well-being of immigrant and low-income New Yorkers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Youth Studies, Education, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, etc.) and at least two (2) years of relevant experience serving high school aged youth or supporting workforce development and/or college readiness programs
  • Candidates with an Associate’s degree (or equivalent) will be considered if they have three (3) years of relevant experience serving high school youth or supporting workforce development and/or college readiness programs
  • Familiarity with DYCD’s Promote the Positive Framework, including Positive Youth Development, Social and Emotional Learning, and Youth Leadership principles.
  • Culturally competent professional committed to providing services in a manner that is sensitive to participants’ cultural heritage and traditions, life experiences, sexual orientation and gender identity.
  • Strong work ethic and demonstrated passion for working with diverse populations, especially immigrant and low-income communities.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, time management and decision-making skills
  • Knowledge of MS office applications and virtual platforms such as Zoom, Teams, and Webex.
  • Willingness to travel to worksites via public transportation.
  • Fluency in English and Chinese, Spanish, and/or Arabic.

Responsibilities

  • Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere where students feel comfortable and motivated to participate.
  • Manage small caseload of students and provide on-going guidance and support while they are enrolled in the Learn & Earn Program.
  • Develop and implement a diverse range of after-school activities that cater to the interests and needs of high school students.
  • Create and organize educational workshops, recreational activities, and skill-building sessions for students.
  • Document student progress, challenges, and any changes in their circumstances.
  • Complete worksite visits and assessments while students are engaged in internships.
  • Ensure that all enrolled participants successfully complete all program components and achieve expected outcomes.
  • Enter data, visits, and student progress notes into the DYCD database.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and community partners to enhance the overall educational experience.
  • Support school with implementing a comprehensive participant outreach, recruitment, selection, enrollment and placement strategy.
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned by the Program Director.
