Responsible for creating community awareness regarding the health consequences of substance use and abuse specific to the state's four prevention priorities of alcohol (underage drinking), marijuana, prescription drug abuse across the lifespan, and Tobacco and Nicotine products. Maximize resources through community mobilization efforts to change community norms and increase citizen participation and commitment among all sectors of the community towards reducing substance use and abuse. Provide prevention presentations and awareness to the community in support of program services. Encourage mobilization, change social norms in communities to prevent and reduce substance use and abuse.

Requirements

  • Have knowledge of the agency's programs to refer individuals who seek information.
  • Maintain working knowledge of personnel and company policy and procedures.
  • Ability to express self, in English, in a clear, concise, understandable manner, both orally and in writing.
  • Reflect a pleasant attitude that represents Aliviane, Inc in a positive manner within the community at large, and maintain a professional attitude to the employees, clients and public at all times. Project the same positive manner while attending community activities.
  • Ability to interact with adults and youth in a positive, courteous respectful and professional manner.

  • Able to accept responsibility; follow or exceed organizational standards
  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, Education, Sociology or related field;
  • Have designation of CPS or APS and working towards the CPS certification within 12 months of employment.
  • 2-4 Years Experience
  • Any combination of education and experience that can be demonstrated to be applicable to the duties listed in the job description.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct prevention Services and Activities through the operation of one or more coalition(s) that utilize the strategic prevention framework process.
  • Implement the combination of the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP) strategies.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain cultural competency efforts.
  • Collaborate with the Prevention Resource Center (PRC) on Tobacco Retail education.
  • Create community awareness regarding the health consequences of substance use and abuse specific to the state's four prevention priorities of alcohol (underage drinking), marijuana, prescription drug abuse across the lifespan, and tobacco/nicotine products.
  • Increase citizen participation and commitment among all sectors of the community towards reducing substance use and abuse by forming and maintaining a coalition.
  • Documenting attendance and participation in a timely manner in compliance with agency policies and procedures, including documentation of services provided and documentation of coalition meetings, progress and follow-up reports and other timely status and compliance reports as requested by the Program Director.
  • Providing information about intervention of drugs, alcohol, prescription medications, and tobacco use; keeping current to literature and development s in the field.
  • Implement and become familiar with key measures for reporting purposes and maintain appropriate CSAP strategies pertaining to program design.
  • Maximize resources through community mobilization efforts to change community norms.
  • Increase awareness and support for substance abuse prevention and treatment services.
  • Prepares and maintains records as required.
  • Participates in agency wide activities as needed in order to meet the goals and objectives of the organization in furthering its mission.
  • Maintains good work habits through timeliness and low absenteeism. Punctual at all times; Takes initiative to identify and analyze problems; generates alternative solutions.
  • Responds to all communication from both internal and external sources in a timely manner. Carries out any and all other assignments to meet the goals and objectives of Aliviane Inc. Understands, accepts, implements and promotes Aliviane Inc. Mission Statement, program/department goals, philosophy and objectives; Serves as a role model for employees, clients and community partners.
  • Keeps abreast of all relevant knowledge about drug use and its effects, social attitudes and laws; reviews current literature and developments in drug use field and represents the agency by speaking in public forums on drug use/abuse, prevention.
