About The Position

The Jewish Graduate Organization (JGO) is seeking a warm, organized, and enthusiastic Part-Time Engagement & Program Coordinator to help bring their new townhouse space to life. This role supports the day-to-day operations of the townhouse and the growth of JGO’s New York community by preparing the space for events, welcoming students, coordinating supplies, building relationships with students and young professionals, and recruiting participants for programs. The Coordinator will also have the opportunity to take ownership of building JGO’s young professionals community in New York City and is ideal for someone interested in nonprofit work with potential for growth within the organization.

  • Someone who naturally builds relationships and enjoys getting to know new people.
  • Organized, reliable, and proactive.
  • Someone who enjoys being hands-on and doesn't mind jumping in to get things done.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable working independently while also being part of a team.
  • Interested in Jewish community-building and/or nonprofit work.
  • Able to make students and young professionals feel welcomed, seen, and comfortable in a new space.
  • Available for several evenings per week for a few hours at a time, particularly around JGO programming.
  • Looking for part-time work now, but is interested in potentially growing into a larger role within JGO in the future.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior event, hospitality, nonprofit, or community-building experience is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Build genuine relationships with Jewish graduate students who participate in JGO programs and use the townhouse.
  • Welcome students as they arrive and proactively introduce yourself, start conversations, and help students feel comfortable.
  • Get to know students, their interests, and their involvement with JGO, and help connect them to relevant programs, opportunities, and staff.
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with students beyond individual events through follow-up, check-ins, and invitations to future programs.
  • Identify students who may be interested in becoming more involved with JGO and share those opportunities with the appropriate JGO staff.
  • Serve as a warm and consistent JGO presence at the townhouse and help create an environment where students want to return.
  • Share relevant student feedback, interests, and engagement opportunities with the Northeast Engagement Manager and programming team.
  • Help strengthen connections between students and the broader JGO community.
  • Help build and grow JGO’s young professionals community in New York City, with a focus on creating an active and engaged network beyond the graduate student population.
  • Spearhead recruitment and outreach for several large young professional events throughout the year, identifying and personally engaging prospective participants.
  • Build relationships with young professionals and encourage them to become part of JGO’s broader community.
  • Conduct targeted outreach through personal follow-up, email, social media, and other channels to drive participation in events.
  • Help develop a strong pipeline of young professionals who can be engaged in future JGO programs and opportunities.
  • Work closely with the programming and engagement teams to plan and execute several high-quality community-building events each year.
  • Track outreach and engagement and share insights about what is resonating with the NYC young professional community.
  • Help prepare the townhouse for JGO programs, events, and gatherings.
  • Set up tables, chairs, food, supplies, signage, and other materials as needed.
  • Help clean up and reset the space following programs.
  • Ensure the townhouse is welcoming, organized, and ready for students.
  • Be present for food and supply deliveries and help coordinate their receipt and setup.
  • Assist with ordering food, beverages, and program supplies.
  • Work with JGO’s programming team to ensure all logistical needs are handled.
  • Support JGO staff with the execution of events and programming.
  • Help create a welcoming and engaging experience for students before, during, and after programs.
  • Help troubleshoot logistical issues that arise before or during programs.
  • Assist with outreach and follow-up to students around upcoming programs and events.
  • Take on additional event and administrative tasks as needed.
  • Be willing to jump in wherever help is needed to make a program successful.
