PROGRAM COORDINATOR - EMERGENCY SHELTER (EWA BEACH)
About The Position
Rooted in aloha and kuleana, Hale Kipa is dedicated to supporting and empowering Hawai'i's youth, young adults, and families who are navigating trauma, injustice, and systemic barriers. Through safe and nurturing housing, culturally grounded care, and trauma-informed relationships, we encourage them to discover their passions, embrace their resilience, and thrive as compassionate, responsible leaders in their families and communities. Since 1970, Hale Kipa has championed Hawai'i's youth and children. We provide youth outreach, independent living facilities, therapeutic foster care, a haven for runaways, and more. Our founders recognized a need for a nonprofit to step in to assist this deserving population and we are still doing that critical work today, on O'ahu, Kaua'i, and the Island of Hawai'i. The Program Coordinator is responsible to provide administrative support to the Emergency Shelter and ensuring the programs provided meet the needs of eligible youth and comply with funding requirements, and agency and accreditation standards. In addition, this position is reponsible to further develop and provide supervision to relief staff, and deliver staff training. This position is also required to provide direct services to clients.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in human services, housing, shelter, or youth services required.
- Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills required.
- Ability to work flexible hours and respond to crisis situations required.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries required.
- A valid driver's license
- Access to a vehicle for work purposes
- Current auto insurance and safety check
Nice To Haves
- Associates / Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field (or equivalent experience) preferred.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and housing-first principles preferred.
- Familiarity with Hawai'i DHS or HUD-funded programs preferred.
- Cultural competence and experience serving Native Hawaiian and local communities preferred.
