About The Position

Harborview Rehabilitation Medicine has an outstanding opportunity for a Program Coordinator/Scheduler. The Rehabilitation Medicine Clinic at Harborview Medical Center offers comprehensive care for adults recovering from spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, stroke, amputations and COVID-19. We offer follow-up care for UW Medicine patients discharged from our acute care and rehabilitation unit. We also offer post-COVID rehabilitation and recovery care for patients who have recovered from an active infection of COVID-19 but continue to have lingering symptoms. Patients are the center of our multidisciplinary team. Care team members include doctors who specialize in rehabilitation medicine (physiatrists), rehabilitation nurses, physical, occupational and speech therapists, patient care coordinators, therapeutic recreation specialists, vocational rehabilitation counselors, rehabilitation psychologists and social workers. Together we work to achieve your goals and optimize your recovery.

Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of experience in the program specialty OR equivalent education/experience
  • Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.

Responsibilities

  • Triage medical information in a specific medical or surgical specialty
  • Schedule post-surgery diagnostic procedures and follow-up patient appointments
  • Act as a liaison between patients, consulting physician, referring physician, or outside agency to coordinate patient appointments, admission, or surgery. Will coordinate the exchange of information either written or verbally before and after patients are seen
  • Act as a liaison between insurance and providers for authorization requests
  • Coordinate multiple specialty clinic appointments
  • Obtain all necessary medical records, diagnostic studies, pathology items, etc., that are needed for patient care
  • Assist in scheduling new patient appointments by triaging to appropriate department and physician
  • Enter appointment information in online appointment system
  • Coordinate pre-admission tests and procedures
  • Review and update patient demographics
  • Update and verify insurance
  • Submit prior authorizations for procedures and medication
