About The Position

This funded position through Canada Summer Jobs Program, will afford a youth-aged individual the opportunity to gain experience and learn practical skills associated with working in an organization that empowers people impacted by blindness to live their dreams and tear down barriers to inclusion.

Requirements

  • Attended full time University/College or Senior High School in the past academic year.
  • Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Office 365 applications and experience working in databases.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Applicants will require a police record check prior to offer of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Customer Service experience an asset.
  • Experience working with disabilities an asset.
  • Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Assists in researching local community programs and events for participants to attend.
  • Working with program staff, coordinates in-person camps, an opportunity for the CNIB children and youth participants.
  • Builds partnerships with other organizations to ensure that programs are inclusive for blind and partially sighted individuals.
  • Provides information to the community regarding summer programming for youth and people with sight loss.
  • Assists with the planning and implementation of programming and special events for youth participants with sight loss, who are blind or deafblind.
  • Assists and provides guidance for individuals participating in the CNIB programming.
  • Assists program staff with volunteer recruitment and training.
  • Tracks attendance of program participants.
  • Executes invitation calls and follow-up calls to participants.
  • Administrative responsibilities in support of CNIB operations, including answering calls and responding to in-person inquiries involving client service, special events and programming.
  • Performs general administrative duties as required including working with program expenses, and sending participant surveys.
  • Increases education and awareness of CNIB (volunteer opportunities, general public awareness, advocacy) through various communication channels, including social media, and community engagement.
