About The Position

This full-time, non-bargaining unit position involves coordinating a program and its activities while ensuring the implementation of policies and practices according to compliance standards. The role requires professional and prompt interaction with referral sources to ensure service delivery meets consumer and referral source needs. The Program Coordinator must be organized, detail-oriented, maintain updated records, and support program growth and development. The position is supervised by the Director of Vocational Services and supervises all program-specific staff.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college in rehabilitation, psychology, social work, sociology, counseling, or a related discipline (a combination of equivalent education and work experience may be considered).
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in rehabilitation, non-profit facility, or comparable setting in vocational rehabilitation, mental health counseling, service delivery, or case management.
  • Working knowledge of the broader rehabilitation movement, CARF, Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services, ADA, and relevant DOL guidelines.
  • Strong working knowledge of disability management and awareness.
  • Ability to supervise professional staff and oversee the operation of a major vocational program.
  • Ability to supervise and critique formal departmental reporting requirements and compose acceptable individual reports.
  • Knowledge of local job markets.
  • Understanding of vocational implications of different disabilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to acquire proficiency in accounting and payroll software and other organizational software.
  • Must be authorized for coverage under agency insurance if operating an agency vehicle, have a good driving record, a valid driver’s license, and/or the required level of personal auto insurance.
  • Must be able to complete a background check satisfactorily.
  • Ability to communicate with tact and maintain confidentiality.
  • Adequate ability in communicating in spoken conversation – adequate volume of speech.
  • Adequate ability in writing/reading/mathematics.
  • Ability to effectively build and maintain positive working relationships with management and peers.

Responsibilities

  • Administer the department in compliance with Phoenix procedures, relevant regulatory guidelines, and program goals.
  • Provide overall supervision and management of the department.
  • Be familiar with the procedures of ADRS, CARF standards, DOL standards, and other relevant agency standards to ensure departmental compliance.
  • Conduct ongoing and annual written job performance evaluations for supervised employees.
  • Make work assignments and ensure staff coverage of the department.
  • Monitor the routine functioning of the department, including reviewing staff requests, approving purchases and leave, monitoring timesheets, and ensuring equipment maintenance.
  • Develop and maintain a program manual/job book defining departmental goals, services, admission criteria, intake procedures, service program development, client record maintenance, and reporting procedures.
  • Provide information to the Vice President of Vocational Programs for facility reporting requirements.
  • Participate in departmental decisions regarding goals, financial management, staffing, space allocation, consumer selection, public relations, and program development.
  • Work with Phoenix management on an ongoing public relations program.
  • Provide employment readiness training, assessment, job development, job placement, and follow-up services.
  • Serve as a facility consultant regarding the employment readiness of program participants.
  • Serve as the primary resource person for information on current employer needs.
  • Develop new and innovative ideas for service delivery and improvement, considering the needs of persons with disabilities, referring agencies, and local employers.
  • Serve as an active member of the vocational services management team, participating in decisions affecting the department.
  • Represent Phoenix in the business community through involvement in civic and professional organizations.
  • Provide information for various statistical requirements.
  • Maintain competencies as defined by the Phoenix Professional Development Plan.
  • Provide prompt services in response to referral source needs and internal financial requirements.
  • Actively participate in marketing exercises.
  • Provide case management services to individuals with disabilities, including service coordination and referrals.
  • Maintain contact and communication with appropriate vocational services staff for effective case management.
  • Develop, write, and present progress reports and discharge summaries.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
