About The Position

The Page-Walker Arts & History Center is seeking a Seasonal Cultural Arts Program Assistant to support their specialty half- and full-day camps. This role is ideal for someone organized, adaptable, and comfortable working independently with young people. The assistant will work alongside the Program Specialist and skilled instructors to ensure the smooth operation of the camps.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma/GED.
  • Some experience working in a camp, school or childcare facility.
  • CPR and First-aid Certification required (or ability to obtain one with supplied training).
  • Ability to work with youth.
  • Ability to prioritize assignments and complete tasks in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Skilled at working with computers, specifically Microsoft Suite.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willing to learn RecTrac and ePact software.
  • Requires drug testing and background check.
  • Requires possession of a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • At least two years toward a bachelor’s degree in elementary/secondary education, recreation, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise children during lunch and on breaks.
  • Develop and lead lunch and afternoon programming for children.
  • Work with parents to distribute and collect information and forms in advance of camp.
  • Email, telephone, and personal contact with Town of Cary staff, instructors, campers, and parents.
  • Assist with camper behavior management.
  • Prepare rooms for camp at the beginning of each week.
  • Other tasks as assigned by Program Specialist.
