About The Position

Metropolitan Family Services is hiring a full-time Program Aide for its Learning and Wellness Center and Midway Children's Center in Chicago. The Program Aide works as part of a teaching team serving children ages 0–3 and/or 3–5, assisting with assigned program activities and working with diverse staff and service populations. The role is supervised by the Site/Education Supervisor.

The position supports classroom and family needs through collaboration with teachers, Family Support Workers, site partners, and the site supervisor. The Program Aide helps implement daily programming, support children’s individual goals, and maintain appropriate guidance, discipline, and classroom ratios. The hourly rate is $17.05–$18.00.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to work with diverse staff and service populations.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role, including sitting and standing for sustained periods; frequent talking, hearing, and handling or operating objects or controls; occasional bending, stretching, stooping, kneeling, and crouching; close visual acuity; and occasionally lifting or moving up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Participate in a team approach to planning and implementing program activities.
• Collaborate with Family Support Workers, teachers, site partners, and the site supervisor to support the classroom and families.
• Assist with ongoing CLASS implementation.
• Support the daily program by assisting the Lead Teacher and Teacher as needed.
• Help teachers guide children toward individual goals and assess each child’s strengths and needs.
• Assist with children’s activities and ensure appropriate child guidance and discipline and that proper ratios are maintained.
• Attend all mandated trainings.
• Set and achieve professional development goals.
• Share resources with other staff members as appropriate.
• Track all professional development in Gateways.
