About The Position

Athletic Event Ushers are the first point of contact for fans and guests at Miami University events. They assist with stadium and arena operations to help ensure the safety and well-being of guests at athletic and non-athletic events. This position supports the mission of Miami University and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics by assisting with institutional compliance with NCAA and Conference rules and regulations. It also involves providing correct seating and first-line crowd control at university special events.

Requirements

• High school education or GED.
• Ability to work well with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet and interact with guests and provide information in a professional and friendly manner.
• Inspect and set up gates and turnstiles before events, then break them down and store them after events.
• Monitor patron flow and enforce rules and regulations before, during, and after events.
• Resolve seating and other problems and ensure guests are in the proper seats.
• Seat guests with disabilities and handle VIP seating.
• Read attendance from turnstiles at the end of events and report attendance to a supervisor.
