About The Position

The University of Chicago Collegiate Scholars Program (CSP) is a free, three-year enrichment program that prepares talented Chicago Public Schools (CPS) students for admission and success at highly selective colleges and universities. The year-round program provides students with the opportunity to become immersed in a highly selective college environment. During the summer months, schools take six-weeks of classes taught by University of Chicago faculty and graduate students. Enrichment activities during the academic year are geared toward college readiness, leadership development, career exploration, and more. The UChicago Collegiate Scholars Program (CSP) Program Administrator is a temporary position through June 30, 2027 that will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day planning and execution of CSP.

Requirements

  • Some college required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of background/working knowledge in youth development, admissions, or college access preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience working or serving youth or communities on the South Side of Chicago preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing administrative projects or supporting program operations required.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently required.
  • Experience working with Chicago Public Schools students or similar public school district preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with diverse populations of students and families required.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Google Drive (Docs, Sheets, and Forms) required.

Responsibilities

  • Support the annual CSP admissions process, conducting outreach to Chicago area youth, high school counselors and community organizations to recruit eligible 9th grade students for CSP.
  • Review prospective scholar applications, support the coordination of prospective scholar interviews, and serve as a member of the admissions committee.
  • Monitor the CSP email inbox and respond to inquiries from a variety of key stakeholders: prospective scholars, counselors, parents/guardians, etc.
  • Support the Associate Director in the planning and execution of a comprehensive, year-round series of college exploration and financial aid workshops that promote exposure to and awareness of different college options, scholarships, majors, etc.
  • Serve as a chaperone for College and Career Readiness and CSP in-person events and activities during the academic year and summer including college/career exploration events, social-emotional learning workshops, workplace tours, local college visits, test preparation classes, and more.
  • Provide support in the planning and execution of the annual College Fair event and college tour trips including researching higher education institutions, coordinating logistics, and preparing relevant materials for student participants.
  • Serve as a point of contact during the six-week CSP summer program, supporting students and instructors, and troubleshooting issues as they arise.
  • Support CSP evaluation efforts by updating surveys, collecting feedback, analyzing results, and conducting research on college readiness curriculum and activities for a high school audience.
