About The Position

The McNair Scholars Program is seeking a motivated student interested in working with and mentoring undergraduate students who aim to pursue graduate degrees. This role involves close collaboration with the Director and Assistant Director to plan, coordinate, and execute workshops and events designed to prepare students for graduate school. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational, oral, and written communication skills, along with a demonstrated interest and ability to work collaboratively with diverse individuals. Previous experience as a McNair scholar or in planning student events is preferred.

Requirements

  • Motivated student focused on working with and mentoring undergraduate students interested in pursuing graduate degrees.
  • Strong organization skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Interest and ability to work collaboratively with diverse individuals.
  • Commitment: 20 hours per week during Fall 2026/2027 academic year.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare students to apply and enroll in graduate school.
  • Assist with program logistics.
  • Recruit students for the program.
  • Create workshops.
  • Recruit McNair Scholars at campus-wide events.
  • Create program newsletters for campus and community, and monthly bulletins for students.
  • Process student assignments during the McNair Research Internship.
  • Co-teach seminars during the McNair Research Internship.
  • Coordinate social and cultural activities.
  • Maintain social networking sites.
  • Be responsible for filing and maintenance of student records.
  • Organize McNair photographs and records of activities.
  • Assist in office management, handle telephone inquiries, and process mail.
