About The Position

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) seeks a full-time, twelve-month, non-tenure track faculty position for its School of Pharmacy. UMES is a Historically Black, Land Grant University located in rural Maryland, dedicated to developing exemplary pharmacy professionals and scholars committed to patient-centered care, lifelong learning, discovery, and service. The School of Pharmacy aims to serve diverse communities and foster a positive work environment. The practice site for this position is in Salisbury, Maryland.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Pharmacy required.
  • Current Maryland pharmacy license or eligibility for Maryland licensure required.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and organizational skills.
  • A team approach to patient care.
  • Strong commitment to teaching excellence, student engagement, research collaboration, and service.
  • Must be able to show acceptable documentation establishing the right to accept employment in the United States of America without employer sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a post-graduate year one (PGY1) residency or at least three (3) years of experience in clinical pharmacy practice or ambulatory care.
  • Experience in didactic and experiential teaching.
  • Completion of a post-graduate year two (PGY2) ambulatory care residency.
  • Board certification in ambulatory care.
  • Experience in population health.

Responsibilities

  • Provide didactic and experiential instruction in pharmacy practice, with emphasis on ambulatory care and related disciplines.
  • Maintain an active clinical practice that supports interprofessional collaboration and student learning.
  • Develop, deliver, and continuously improve courses to meet and exceed accreditation standards; collaborate effectively in team-taught courses.
  • Engage in independent and collaborative scholarly activities related to area of expertise.
  • Participate in service to the school/university and regional, state, and national professional organizations.
  • Provide comprehensive population health/ambulatory care pharmacy services, including comprehensive medication management, chronic disease management, medication reconciliation, transitions of care, and patient education to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Collaborate with physicians, care managers, and other healthcare professionals to identify and resolve medication-related problems, improve adherence, close care gaps, and advance population health initiatives through evidence-based care and quality improvement activities.
  • Utilize electronic health records, population health tools, and clinical quality metrics to identify high-risk patients, document and assess pharmacist interventions, and contribute to the development and implementation of innovative pharmacy services and practice protocols.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
