About The Position

The Department of Social Work at Metropolitan State University of Denver invites applications for a tenure-track or tenured faculty appointment in its MSW Graduate Program, at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank. This is a full-time faculty contract beginning Fall 2027. The position requires presence in Colorado on MSU Denver’s Auraria campus for in-person teaching and other activities. Teaching may be delivered online, face to face, or in hybrid formats. The faculty member will teach 24 credits per academic year, typically four courses per semester; take lead faculty responsibility for specific courses; and update and modify online and on-campus course materials. Advising includes a caseload of approximately 40 students, with career and professional advising documented. A scholarly agenda and quality scholarship are expected and supported. Scholarship may include publications, external funding, student research mentorship, program evaluation, development of community-serving resources, and participation in academic conferences. Service includes departmental, college, and/or university committees and active involvement in professional organizations and/or the community. Teaching, scholarship, and service must intentionally incorporate diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in the department and in service of students. Other duties may be assigned. The Department offers undergraduate and graduate social work programs, serves more than 1,000 students across pre-social-work, undergraduate, and graduate programs, and provides in-person and online modalities. Its internship program includes more than 400 agency partners. The department emphasizes culturally responsive, relational practice; anti-oppressive and anti-racist approaches; and effective clinical social work services with diverse communities across micro, mezzo, and macro settings. Applicants with experience teaching social work theory, practice, and/or research are sought, with priority given to experience in research methods, program evaluation, and project-based learning. MSU Denver provides a year-long mentoring program for tenure-track faculty. First-year faculty participate in the Roadrunner Faculty Academy, which supports development in teaching, scholarly activity, and service. Faculty may also participate in university programs that connect new faculty with affinity groups, networks, and additional mentoring opportunities.
