About The Position

The Tommy and Victoria Baker School of Business at The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Accounting at the Assistant, Associate or Professor level, beginning Fall 2027. The School of Business is an AACSB International-accredited institution located on The Citadel’s campus in Charleston, South Carolina. It offers multiple undergraduate programs, an undergraduate degree completion program, and an online MBA program, serving approximately 1,100 undergraduate and graduate students. The Citadel itself is a public senior military college with a rich history and educational reputation, emphasizing leadership education and development. It has been ranked by U.S. News and World Report for eleven consecutive years as the #1 Public College in the South and named one of the Ten Most Innovative Schools in the South. The Citadel is the home of the South Carolina Corps of Cadets and offers a unique, residential undergraduate experience in a military college setting, with graduate programs offered in the nonresidential Citadel Graduate College. Requirements

  • An earned doctorate in Accounting from an AACSB-accredited (or equivalent) institution (ABD candidates will be considered for the assistant professor level if the dissertation defense is expected before employment begins).
  • Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service.

Nice To Haves

  • Active professional licensure (e.g., CPA, CMA).
  • Professional experience in accounting or a related field.
  • A record of or potential for publishing in high-quality peer-reviewed academic journals.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in accounting.
  • Maintain Scholarly Academic (SA) status through ongoing high-quality peer-reviewed publications and other scholarly activities, in accordance with Baker School of Business criteria.
  • Advise and mentor accounting majors, supporting their academic, professional, and ethical development.
  • Actively promote the accounting program both within the institution and externally through professional engagement.
  • Participate in normal service activities, including departmental and school-level committee work.
