About The Position
Applications are invited for the position of Part-Time Professor in the Greenhouse Technician program within the School of Environment and Horticulture. This position will commence Fall of 2026 at the Daniel J. Patterson Campus.
Requirements
- Post secondary education in greenhouse production, horticulture, plant science, or a closely related field
- Significant, hands-on greenhouse production experience
- Working knowledge of environmental control, irrigation systems, fertilization, industry diseases and pest management practices, growing media, pH/EC, and plant physiological responses
- Strong communication skills for explaining technical concepts to students
- Commitment to student-centered and inclusive teaching practices
Nice To Haves
- Teaching credentials or coursework in adult education (e.g., B.Ed., M.Ed., or Adult Education Certificate)
- Experience with learning management systems (e.g., Brightspace) and organizing applied course materials
- Industry certifications or professional affiliations relevant to greenhouse production
- Experience working in commercial, research, or teaching greenhouses with diverse crop types
- Familiarity with sustainability initiatives, zero-runoff systems, or environmentally responsible greenhouse practices
