About The Position

Green Oasis Gardens is a thriving garden center and boutique that brings life, color, and inspiration to our community. We pride ourselves on offering high-quality plants, expert advice, and an inviting shopping experience. We’re looking for a knowledgeable and hands-on Greenhouse Specialist to help care for our plants, create a welcoming environment for customers, and help create memorable experiences through events and education.

Requirements

  • Previous greenhouse, nursery, or horticulture experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of annuals, perennials, shrubs, and general plant care.
  • Passion for gardening and helping customers succeed with plants.
  • Ability to work in warm/cold greenhouse conditions and perform physical tasks (lifting up to 40 lbs, bending, standing for long periods).
  • Great communication skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
  • Flexible availability, including weekends and peak seasons (spring/summer).
  • Must be willing to obtain a state pesticide applicator’s license (training assistance and test reimbursement provided).

Responsibilities

  • Care for greenhouse plants including watering, pruning, fertilizing, and monitoring for pests/disease.
  • Maintain plant health, rotation, and merchandising displays to ensure a vibrant, appealing sales floor.
  • Provide friendly, knowledgeable customer service—answering plant care questions, making recommendations, and assisting with selections.
  • Unload, tag, and stock incoming plant shipments.
  • Assist with seasonal greenhouse changes (spring annuals, fall mums, holiday greens, etc.).
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe greenhouse environment.
  • Collaborate with team members to support seasonal promotions and events.
  • Assist at the front of the store as needed, including learning the cash register and handling customer transactions.
  • Collaborate with our Event Coordinator to host garden seminars, workshops, and seasonal campaigns.
  • Obtain and maintain proper pesticide applicator’s license; apply sprays safely and responsibly when needed.
  • Operate tractor for dumbing cuttings, loading bulk material, off loading semis, etc.
  • Coordinate deliveries / manage a small planting crew
