About The Position

Fanshawe College is seeking interested and qualified professionals to teach didactic and/or clinical courses in the Dental Hygiene (DHY) program in the School of Health Sciences. Reporting to the Associate Dean, part-time Professors at Fanshawe College are responsible for providing academic leadership and for developing an effective learning environment for students. Availability for in-person on campus delivery is required for most courses, and successful candidates will be required to perform work within Ontario. This posting is to collect resumes for future openings, with potential vacancies for Faculty positions (up to 6 hours per week) beginning as early as the Fall 2026 academic term.

Requirements

For clinical courses: Minimum 5 years’ recent and relevant clinical experience
For clinical courses: Dental Hygienists must be a graduate of an accredited Dental Hygiene program and registered with the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario with a general or specialty certificate of registration
For didactic courses: Dental Hygienists must be a graduate of an accredited Dental Hygiene program and registered with the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario with a general or specialty certificate of registration
For didactic courses: Must have a Baccalaureate degree (or in progress) in a related field
Post-secondary teaching or training experience is required
Strong technical/computer skills and familiarity with educational technologies are required
Successful candidates will be required to perform work within Ontario
Availability for in-person on campus delivery is required for most courses

Nice To Haves

Post-secondary teaching or training experience is preferred (for clinical courses)
Preference will be given to candidates with a Master’s degree in a related discipline; consideration will be given to applicants currently enrolled in a Master’s program (for didactic courses)
An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered; preference will be given to applicants meeting the education requirements
The preferred candidate having curriculum design and experience with inter-professional education initiatives (for didactic courses)
Combination of excellent leadership and teaching skills with a strong commitment to academic excellence and student success
Excellent communicator
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to relate effectively to a wide variety of learners
Teaching experience with hybrid delivery preferred
Proven ability to work in a team environment
Related industry work experience
Previous college teaching experience
Knowledge of curriculum design and student evaluations are assets
