About The Position

UPMC Mercy is hiring a part-time Professional Staff Nurse for its 8A Neuro ICU. The 18-bed ICU provides comprehensive care to patients with acute and critical neurological conditions. The unit uses advanced technology and a multidisciplinary team—including neurologists, neurosurgeons, intensivists, specially trained nurses, respiratory therapists, rehabilitation therapists, and clinical pharmacists—to manage complex cases. Its patient-centered approach includes compassionate support for patients and families, regular communication and education, and involving patients in decisions about their care. The team coordinates with rehabilitation services, outpatient clinics, and community resources to support continuity of care and recovery beyond the ICU. The Professional Staff Nurse provides competent, empathetic patient care and treatment, using independent judgment and clear communication to build relationships with physicians, other care providers, patients, and families. As a member of the care delivery team, the nurse helps set standards for the level and quality of nursing care and is accountable for its provision. Title and salary are determined based on education and nursing experience. The position is 24 hours per week on a rotating shift schedule.
