About The Position

Under broad supervision, provides rehabilitation counseling services, referral services, and resident evaluation to assigned clients. This position is part-time hourly and requires less than 30 hours per week and is not eligible for benefits.

Requirements

Master’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university in one of the following areas: Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a directly related field.

Completion of a Master`s degree in a mental health field from an accredited college or university (e.g., counseling, social work, or psychology). The degree must be in an area that would qualify the graduate for licensure by the Georgia Composite Board of Professional Counselors, Social Workers and Marriage and Family Therapists.
Licensure as a State of Georgia Professional Counselor, Social Worker, or Marriage and Family Therapist.

Responsibilities

Performs and/or directs intake services to youth, including mental health screening within policy time guidelines.
Directs or completes mental health assessments of youth by interviewing youth and/or families, contacting other health care professionals, reviewing youth's record, identifying psycho-social stressors, strengths, challenges, risks, level of functioning and needs, determining appropriate services and alternate plans of care, making necessary referrals, and documenting findings.
Provides therapeutic counseling to individuals, groups or families to effect positive change in the youth’s behavior and/or social situations, complying with confidentiality regulations, developing and implementing treatment plans and/or crisis management plans, conducting individual and group therapy sessions, providing crisis intervention services, providing on-call, evening, and weekend coverage, and providing consultation and guidance to other staff.
Leads or participates as a member of a treatment team to identify youth's strengths, resources, symptoms, and psychological challenges to develop and monitor an effective plan of treatment, presenting summaries, participating in the identification of strengths and weaknesses, providing clinical input, initiating changes in treatment plans, communicating with youth and family, monitoring progress, and writing progress notes.
Prepares and submits required reports and other documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
Engages in clinical supervision to facilitate development of clinical knowledge, skills and professional integrity of mental health services provided to youth, participating actively in supervision sessions and contacting supervisors for consultation when encountering ethical or clinical challenges.
