About The Position

Under broad supervision, provides rehabilitation counseling services, referral services, and resident evaluation to assigned clients. This position is part-time hourly and requires less than 30 hours per week and is not eligible for benefits.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university in one of the following areas: Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a directly related field.

• Completion of a Master`s degree in a mental health field from an accredited college or university (e.g., counseling, social work, or psychology) that would qualify the graduate for licensure by the Georgia Composite Board of Professional Counselors, Social Workers and Marriage and Family Therapists.
• Licensure as a State of Georgia Professional Counselor, Social Worker, or Marriage and Family Therapist.

Responsibilities

• Performs and/or directs intake services to youth, including mental health screening in accordance with policy and within time guidelines.
• Directs or completes mental health assessments of youth by interviewing youth and/or families, contacting other healthcare professionals, reviewing records, identifying psycho-social stressors, strengths, challenges, risks, level of functioning and needs, and determining appropriate services and alternate plans of care.
• Makes necessary referrals to other providers as indicated by assessment findings and documents them in a timely manner.
• Provides therapeutic counseling to individuals, groups, or families to effect positive change in the youth’s behavior and/or social situations, complying with confidentiality regulations.
• Develops and implements treatment plans and/or crisis management plans, conducts individual and group therapy sessions, and provides crisis intervention services.
• Provides on-call, evening, and weekend coverage for mental health needs and consults with other staff who interact with youth.
• Leads or participates as a member of a treatment team to identify youth strengths, resources, symptoms, and psychological challenges to develop and monitor an effective plan of treatment.
• Presents assessment summaries to treatment team members, participates in identifying strengths and weaknesses, and provides clinical input into treatment plans.
• Initiates changes in treatment plans based on reassessment of therapeutic needs and communicates treatment goals and services to youth and their families.
• Monitors youth progress through various methods and conveys progress information to family members/significant others.
• Writes concise, accurate, clear progress notes in the youth’s mental health record.
• Prepares and submits required reports and other documentation in a timely manner.
• Engages in clinical supervision to facilitate development of clinical knowledge, skills, and professional integrity.
• Participates actively in clinical supervision sessions and contacts supervisors for consultation when encountering ethical or clinical challenges.
