About The Position

This course examines the political strategies that Indigenous peoples have adopted in Canada and around the world to ensure the protection of their rights. The course focuses on the many ways in which Indigenous peoples have resisted and continue to resist the domination strategies of colonizers, who have systematically undermined the rights of Indigenous peoples. Emphasis will be placed on Indigenous voices of resistance, engaging with Indigenous political activists, studying Indigenous media, writings, etc.

Requirements

  • Completed or in the process of completing a Doctorate.
  • University teaching experience is an asset.

Nice To Haves

  • Competence in a second language (beyond French).

Responsibilities

  • Teach the course "Politique autochtone et droits humains" (ECH2708 Section A00) during the 2027 Winter Semester.
  • Engage with Indigenous political activists, study Indigenous media and writings as part of the course.
  • Provide instruction in French, with competence in a second language being an asset.
