This course introduces the interdisciplinary foundations of psychedelic studies from a Humanities perspective. It examines religious, historical, cultural, Indigenous, philosophical, and ethical approaches to psychedelic substances and experiences. Students will explore how psychedelics have shaped ritual practices, the production of religious meaning, and interpretations of consciousness, healing, and transformation. Contemporary scientific research will be addressed within the broader context of social, political, and spiritual frameworks, rather than solely through clinical lenses. The course will be offered as a web conference.
