About The Position

This is a new position for a Regular Part-Time Professor in Indigenous Studies for the Fall 2026 semester at the University of Ottawa's Faculty of Arts, within the Institute of Indigenous Research and Studies (IIRS). The course, EAS2510-A00, will cover artistic, cultural, economic, political, and social issues concerning Indigenous peoples. The expected enrollment is 25 students, and the course is worth 3 credits. The position is limited to Regular Part-Time Professors.

Requirements

  • Advanced education in Canadian Indigenous Studies and/or a related field (law/legal studies, history, political studies, etc.)
  • Previous teaching experience in the discipline
  • Lived experience within Indigenous communities (or work experience within Indigenous organizations)
  • Competence in a second language (active)
  • Successful completion of all mandatory legislated training as required by provincial law.

Nice To Haves

  • Qualified candidates who are Indigenous peoples of Canada (First Nations, Inuit and Métis) with a genuine link to their Indigenous community will be given preference.
  • Specific experience and/or practical knowledge of pedagogical tools for distance learning.
