About The Position

The Civil Law Section of the Faculty of Law is seeking to recruit part-time professors who are distinguished by their expertise and play a leading role in the legal profession. This course, Ordre juridique autochtone et droit constitutionnel (Indigenous Legal Orders and Constitutional Law), will be taught by two professors, each responsible for 1.5 credits. The course covers the foundations and sources of Indigenous legal orders, and an introduction to Canadian constitutional law, including the rights of Indigenous peoples in Canadian law.

Requirements

  • Hold an LL.L. or LL.B. (or equivalent).
  • Be a member in good standing of the Barreau du Québec, the bar of another province, or the Chambre des notaires du Québec.
  • Have significant and relevant experience in the field covered by this course and/or hold a graduate degree in this field and/or have contributed to research through academic publications demonstrating recognized expertise in this field.
  • The candidate must have a foundational understanding of Indigenous legal orders and Canadian constitutional law, including Indigenous rights.

Nice To Haves

  • University teaching experience in a law faculty is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Teach the course "Ordre juridique autochtone et droit constitutionnel" (DCC1511 Section A00).
  • Cover the foundations and sources of Indigenous legal orders.
  • Provide an introduction to Canadian constitutional law, including the rights of Indigenous peoples in Canadian law.
