About The Position

The Civil Law Section of the Faculty of Law seeks to recruit part-time professors who are distinguished by their expertise and play a leading role in the legal profession. This position is for the course 'Ordre juridique autochtone et droit constitutionnel' (Indigenous Legal Orders and Constitutional Law) for the Fall 2026 semester. The course covers the foundations and sources of Indigenous legal orders, and an introduction to Canadian constitutional law, including the rights of Indigenous peoples in Canadian law. There will be two professors for this course, each teaching 1.5 credits.

Requirements

  • Hold an LL.L. or LL.B. (or equivalent).
  • Be a member in good standing of the Barreau du Québec, the bar of another province, or the Chambre des notaires du Québec.
  • Have significant and relevant experience in the field covered by this course and/or hold a graduate degree in this field and/or have contributed to research through academic publications demonstrating recognized expertise in this field.
  • The course covers the foundations and sources of Indigenous legal orders and an introduction to Canadian constitutional law, including the rights of Indigenous peoples in Canadian law.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching university courses in a law faculty is an asset.

  • Cover the foundations and sources of Indigenous legal orders.
  • Introduce Canadian constitutional law, including the rights of Indigenous peoples in Canadian law.
  • Potentially contribute to research through academic publications demonstrating recognized expertise in the field.

Benefits

  • Hourly rate for teaching: $239.47 (2024-2025).
  • Vacation pay and statutory pay are not included in the hourly rate.
