About The Position
Silgan Containers is seeking a hands-on Production General Laborer to help maintain its facility, support plant operations, and keep production moving safely and efficiently. The role involves active work in a manufacturing environment, maintaining a safe, clean, and organized workplace, and supporting maintenance and facility projects. No specialized maintenance experience is required; the company values dependability, a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and willingness to learn. Employees may have opportunities to learn positions such as Forklift, Packer, Quality Analyst, Stacker, and Sorter. The position pays $23.51–$27.02 per hour depending on assigned duties, with a $0.80-per-hour night-shift differential and overtime opportunities. The schedule is 4 days on/4 days off with 12-hour shifts; shifts may be days or nights depending on production needs.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Responsibilities
- Follow all safety policies and procedures.
- Operate forklifts safely and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
- Support maintenance and facility projects using hand and power tools.
- Assist with equipment installation, movement, assembly, and repair activities.
- Help maintain hazardous material, compressor, and utility areas.
- Perform pallet repair, painting, housekeeping, and general plant upkeep.
- Maintain plant grounds, including mowing, trimming, trash removal, and snow removal.
- Identify and report equipment issues, leaks, or unsafe conditions.
- Participate in training activities and assist with other duties as assigned.
- Learn different positions such as Forklift, Packer, Quality Analyst, Stacker, and Sorter.
