About The Position

The Production Welder (Carbon) works in Niles, Michigan, on first or third shift. The role involves welding carbon steel components according to work instructions, orders, and blueprints, as well as operating equipment on the enamel assembly line. Work is primarily performed on the exterior of tanks, with occasional interior welding. The welder may also support other crews or personnel during downtime or when workload demands.

Requirements

• Successful completion of Production Welder (Carbon) testing.
• Familiarity with industrial welding standards and quality inspection techniques.
• Basic to intermediate blueprint-reading skills.
• Ability to lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds throughout the shift.
• Ability to work occasionally in confined spaces and handle heavy materials.
• Comfort standing, bending, and lifting throughout the shift.

• Experience in a manufacturing or production environment.

Responsibilities

• Follow work instructions, orders, and blueprints to complete assigned tasks efficiently.
• Perform tacking, backup welds, fillet welds, and full penetration welds on carbon steel components.
• Ensure proper joint fit-up and clean surfaces before tacking or welding.
• Clean, inspect, and verify welds for proper size, penetration, and fill, correcting defects as needed.
• Tidy materials and debris after each task to maintain a safe, clean workspace.
• Weld primarily on the exterior of tanks, with occasional interior welding as required.
• Operate equipment on the enamel assembly line.
• Support other crews or personnel during downtime or when workload demands.
