About The Position

The Line Lead (PT4) is an hourly, experienced Production Technician who coordinates day-to-day work and trains crew members within an assigned production area — Extraction, Blending/CIP, Filler, Labels, Packaging, or Drumming. Working under the direction of the Production Supervisor, the Line Lead keeps the area running smoothly, on schedule, and in compliance with quality and food-safety standards. As a designated On-the-Job Training (OJT) lead, this role plays a key part in certifying new hires and cross-training crew members on the four-crew rotation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED, plus at least 1 year of related production experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the assigned production area (Extraction, Labels, Filler, Packaging, Blending/CIP, or Drumming) is required.
  • Able to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; able to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Able to speak effectively one-on-one and in front of a group of coworkers, customers, or vendors.
  • Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; able to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Able to solve practical, everyday problems on the line where only limited standardization exists; able to follow written, oral, diagram, or schedule-based instructions.
  • Regularly lifts/moves up to 10 lbs, frequently up to 50 lbs, and occasionally up to 25 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience training or mentoring others is a plus.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred — the DiGiorgio production floor is a bilingual workforce.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily work in the assigned area under the direction of the Production Supervisor, helping the crew hit the production plan for the shift.
  • Confirm orders and production plans — product types, quantities, and specifications — are accurate before the run starts.
  • Help coordinate the shift's operational schedule so production and quality stay on target and on time.
  • Watch production and operating reports during the shift; flag and help resolve equipment, process, or quality issues to avoid delays.
  • Inspect machines and equipment in the assigned area for proper operation; report issues to maintenance and/or the Production Supervisor.
  • Serve as a designated On-the-Job Training (OJT) lead — train and certify new hires and cross-train crew members on SOPs for the assigned area.
  • Observe crew members' work to confirm they're following standard operating procedures; coach on the spot when they're not.
  • Confirm the correct materials (bottles, boxes, labels, etc.) are being used for the products running that shift.
  • Confirm the correct information is on bottles and boxes, and that samples have been provided to Quality Control.
  • In the Production Supervisor's absence, help address crew concerns and escalate unresolved issues to the Production Supervisor.
  • Help motivate the crew to hit production and quality goals.
  • Retrieve, verify, and record accurate production data for the shift.
  • Follow and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) every shift.
  • Understand and comply with SQF, USDA, and HACCP standards, and follow all SQF, Organic, and Non-GMO procedures to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Immediately report any unsafe condition or act that could jeopardize food or employee safety; take action to correct it if it's safe to do so.
  • Follow and help enforce company policies and safety regulations.
  • Confirm equipment is used correctly and help maintain a safe work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned, with or without notice.
  • Coordinates the work of 5–15 Production Technicians within an assigned area (Extraction, Labels, Filler, Packaging, Blending/CIP, or Drumming) on one crew of the four-crew rotation.
  • Train and certify crew members as a designated OJT lead.
  • Plan, assign, and direct the day's work within the assigned area.
  • Help address crew questions and concerns, escalating to the Production Supervisor as needed.
