About The Position

Sonoco, a global leader in packaging solutions since 1899, is seeking a Production Team Lead for its 3rd Shift operations in Cincinnati, OH. This role involves leading and working hands-on with the production team to ensure the successful manufacturing of tubes and cores. The ideal candidate will have a strong safety-first mindset, excellent attendance, proven success in fast-paced environments, and a keen eye for detail and quality. This position reports to the Plant Manager and requires flexibility to work overtime as needed.

Requirements

  • 5 years prior manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Must have core manufacturing experience.
  • Previous leadership experience in manufacturing leading a crew/team is preferred.
  • Ability to lead by example and hold reports accountable.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to do basic production-related computations.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously is desired.
  • Ability to demonstrate integrity in relation to safety, quality, and customer service.
  • Ability to read and understand manufacturing instructions and specification sheets.
  • Possess a mechanical aptitude with the ability to logically troubleshoot and solve machine issues.
  • Possess an understanding of continuous improvement methodology and experience with continuous improvement tools.
  • Demonstrate the ability to identify opportunities and lead improvements.
  • Must have knowledge of computer-based programs – Word, Excel, Power Point.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed.
  • Forklift Experience preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with 5S a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Leading a team of production employees using multiple manufacturing lines to produce tubes and cores.
  • Collaborating closely with other departments and teams.
  • Making incremental process adjustments, monitoring and reporting quality of manufactured product.
  • Consistently providing expected deliverables and required administrative tasks.
  • Driving and inspiring the team to improve performance to meet and exceed goals.
  • Troubleshooting skills to set up new jobs and operate various manufacturing machines.
  • Maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work area.
  • Performing all duties as designated by the plant manager and in support of Sonoco’s quality and safety policies.
  • Assisting other departments as needed.
  • Holding counterparts accountable if quality, attendance, or other factors are not met.
  • Filling in vacancies as needed to ensure production stays on track.
