The Team Lead is instrumental in the smooth running of manufacturing operations by ensuring start-up and end of shift responsibilities are executed. Responsibilities include positive communication with team members while coordinating schedules, monitoring production, ensuring quality standards are met, and making recommendations for continuous improvement. The Team Lead is a positive influence on team members, through open communication, modeling H&S adherence and taking ongoing direction from the Production Supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school graduation diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience working in manufacturing within a Team Lead capacity
  • Previous Forklift, Reach Truck and TDG certification
  • Familiar with Microsoft office and ERP systems.
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety best practices related to Receiving, Warehouse and Manufacturing environments, with knowledge of the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and other related software
  • Detail oriented with strong attention to detail
  • Proven ability to lead a team, delegate tasks and motivate employees.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, & positively express and identify problems to the Production Supervisor
  • Effective leadership and collaboration skills to work as the ‘middle’ person in conveying messages in a positive influential way
  • Ability to think creatively and problem solve when faced with new challenges
  • Adaptable with the willingness to move to different areas of the manufacturing process as needed
  • Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Required to pass respirator fit testing and comply with the respirator policy

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Previous knowledge of chemicals

Responsibilities

  • Communicate to the team the daily production schedule based on the Production Supervisor’s direction.
  • Coordinate tasks to ensure daily production objectives are met.
  • Proactively communicate any issues to the Production Supervisor and seek input on direction.
  • Check the schedule and communicate any delays to the Production Supervisor prior to end of day processes being started.
  • Report problems or concerns with quality, processes, equipment, materials or labour to the Production Supervisor.
  • Communicate any shortages or issues with materials to the Production Supervisor.
  • Convey scheduled changes and assist in redefining targets in quantities and timelines.
  • Ensure the team meets quality standards through inspection, ensuring production output meets quality guidelines, and providing procedural training and ensuring related policies and procedures are being followed.
  • Recommend and support continuous improvement efforts and assist Production Supervisor in carrying out any changes.
  • Assist in all other tasks in department as needed including filling in for attendance vacancies.
  • Trained to perform and support high level tasks related to Batcher, Packager and Material Handler Duties, as necessary based on daily production demands.
  • Provide back-up support for the Production Supervisor when they are not on-site.
  • Follow and model all Health & Safety guidelines and other Standard Operating Procedures and strive for zero work related incidents.
  • Provide direction to team to ensure clean and tidy work areas within the manufacturing facility, ensure proper PPE is being used, and any identified hazards are reported to the Production Supervisor.
  • Operate Reach Truck and Forklift in accordance with training certification guidelines.
  • Report any concerns from employees to the Production Supervisor and make recommendations for possible solutions.
