About The Position

Millennium is a global, diversified alternative investment firm founded in 1989. Its Information Technology department enables the firm’s active, multi-manager business model through flexible, scalable technology and proprietary systems, developing and supporting analytical, trading, integration, and enterprise capabilities in a global engineering environment. The Production Support Application & Middleware Engineer provides support for critical internal trading, integration, and event-driven messaging platforms across user-acceptance and production environments. The role diagnoses and resolves application, messaging, infrastructure, connectivity, latency, throughput, and data-delivery issues; communicates with trading staff and internal stakeholders during incidents and releases; and works with global teams to coordinate support and incident, problem, change, and release-management activities. The engineer monitors platform health and improves operational readiness through dashboards, alerting, capacity planning, runbooks, post-incident reviews, and root-cause analysis. The role also designs, implements, administers, and supports Solace PubSub+ event-driven integration solutions and establishes standards and governance for event-driven architecture. It develops source-controlled automation, configuration, and operational tooling to improve reliability, observability, deployment, and recovery procedures.

Requirements

  • Experience supporting business-critical production systems in a fast-paced environment; ideally within financial services, trading technology, or another highly available enterprise setting.
  • Hands-on experience with Solace PubSub+, including broker configuration, queues, topics, subscriptions, ACLs, client connectivity, routing, and operational support.
  • Strong knowledge of event-driven architecture, asynchronous messaging, distributed systems, and integration patterns, including one or more of JMS, AMQP, MQTT, REST, WebSocket, or SMF.
  • Strong Linux skills, including command-line troubleshooting, log analysis, process management, networking fundamentals, and shell scripting.
  • Strong Python and shell scripting skills, with experience automating platform operations, environment management, configuration, deployment, monitoring, validation, or recovery.
  • Experience with GitHub and Git-based workflows, including pull requests, branching strategies, CI/CD practices, and artifact repositories such as Artifactory.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex incidents across application, messaging, infrastructure, and network layers, while communicating effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders, and trading staff.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.

  • Communicate clearly and promptly with trading staff and internal stakeholders during incidents, platform disruptions, releases, and exchange-related events.
  • Partner with global teams across North America, Europe, and APAC to deliver production support coverage and coordinate incident, problem, change, and release-management activities.
  • Monitor platform health and strengthen operational readiness through dashboards, alerting, capacity planning, runbooks, post-incident reviews, and root-cause analysis.
  • Design, implement, administer, and support Solace PubSub+ event-driven integration solutions, including event brokers, message VPNs, client profiles, queues, subscriptions, ACLs, certificates, authentication, authorization, and monitoring.
  • Establish and maintain event-driven architecture standards for topics, schemas, versioning, security, retention, resiliency, and lifecycle management; use Solace Event Portal and AsyncAPI-based practices to govern reusable event contracts.
  • Develop source-controlled automation, configuration, and operational tooling using Python, shell scripting, GitHub, Artifactory, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code practices to improve reliability, observability, deployment, and recovery procedures.
