About The Position

This role actively leads the team to ensure that Plant targets and objectives are met in all aspects of its business, while promoting and monitoring the process of continuous improvement. The Production Supervisor provides a safe and healthy working environment by implementing improvement programs to eliminate work-related injuries. This position supervises and coordinates all "Cold End" functions in the packing, trucking, shipping, warehouse, stocking, and off-line processes for shift operation of float glass manufacture, with direction from the Shift Manager as needed. The goal is to achieve effective and efficient use of resources, train and identify training opportunities for all crew members, and provide feedback to area team leaders on operator training gaps. The supervisor monitors and evaluates costs, quality, and service, identifying areas for improvement to eliminate waste through problem-solving techniques, evaluation of team results compared to budget and objectives, and ongoing monitoring of team performance. Effective communication is ensured through a cascade method, both within the team and where there is impact elsewhere in the organization. The supervisor communicates with the Shift Manager regarding safety, quality, and productivity issues, and with area team leaders on any necessary changes to SOPs. Collaboration with the Shift Manager and HE supervisor occurs before, during, and after the shift to determine manning requirements, scheduling concerns, maintenance issues, and process status, as documented on the shift report. The supervisor must be aware of any special quality specifications and complete the shift report and a proper shift hand-off. Ensuring 5S and housekeeping responsibilities are fulfilled for each area in the Cold End, and monitoring all equipment and processes to ensure asset protection are key duties.
