About The Position

This position announcement is for a Production Supervisor in the Loin Bone department on the 2nd shift at JBS USA in Ottumwa. The role is classified as Exempt and requires meeting and exceeding production goals, supervising production employees, and ensuring adherence to procedures, safety, and cleanliness standards. The supervisor is responsible for policy compliance, meeting volume goals, reducing claims, maximizing yields, controlling costs, employee retention, and maintaining good working relationships with the Union, USDA, and maintenance employees. Compliance with food safety, human resources, and safety policies is also a key responsibility.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge and technical skill in a variety of production jobs.
  • Supervisory skills; good interpersonal relations; ability to handle conflict.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good attendance and safety records
  • (Less than 3 Points, for internal candidates)
  • High School degree or equivalent required, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally in English
  • Computer knowledge required
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to work 50+ hours
  • Hourly direct reports (25-50), production employees

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to speak multiple languages beneficial
  • Bilingual skills helpful
  • Excellent conflict resolution skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree in applicable field preferred
  • 1-2 years proven supervisory experience in the Beef or Pork industry preferred

Responsibilities

  • Meet and exceed production goals set forth by plant management
  • Supervise production employees
  • Monitor and ensure proper procedures, safety, and cleanliness of production employees
  • Ensure policy compliance with all production employees
  • Perform various duties as assigned
  • Responsible for meeting volume goals, reducing claims, maximizing yields, reducing cost, employee retention and maintain good working relationships with the Union, USDA (meat), and maintenance employees
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, and all human resources and safety policies
