About the position
The Production Supervisor at FreshRealm is responsible for managing a department within a fast-paced production plant. They must ensure maximum efficiency while maintaining the highest standards of company specifications. The role involves providing training and motivation to team members, enforcing health and safety standards, and analyzing and addressing any issues affecting performance. The Production Supervisor must also manage the labor resource within budget, promote quality within the department, and ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards. Overall, this role plays a crucial part in ensuring the smooth operation and success of FreshRealm's production plant.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the full implementation of 'Safety Systems'
- Identify and resolve any problems affecting performance within the department
- Maximize the efficiency of the department and achieve daily production plan targets
- Maintain high standards of hygiene within the department and surrounding areas
- Adhere to 'Good Manufacturing Practice' at all times and stages of the process
- Analyze downtime and address production issues with other departments/Plant Managers
- Manage labor resources within budget/targets for required output
- Handle staff issues of discipline, grievance, and welfare according to company policies and procedures
- Promote quality within the department and encourage a 'right first time, every time' approach
- Ensure compliance with Food Safety and Quality standards, address non-conformances, and monitor measures to maintain and improve standards
- Elevate critical issues to appropriate QA Leadership
- Implement and maintain 'Process Control' systems
- Train and encourage department associates to meet high standards
- Manage departmental budgets and maintain them
- Ensure effective communication at all levels and complete necessary administrative work
Requirements
- Manufacturing experience in fresh food is preferable
- Knowledge of large-scale business start-ups is preferred
- Demonstrated ability at being a team player
- Experience working in a continuous improvement environment and demonstrated delivery through change
- Certified and/or trained in OSHA requirements, HACCP, SDS, First Aid/CPR, and Food Hygiene
- Ability to motivate others to work routine and monotonous processes and stand for extended periods of time
- Must have an excellent understanding of English, bilingual (Spanish) speaking skills are helpful
- Ability to work in a cold/damp environment and stand for extended periods
- High school diploma or equivalent education
- Advanced education in Food Safety or Culinary Arts is preferred
- A Minimum (1) year of experience in a first-level production management role, preferably in a chilled food environment within a fast-paced business
- Experience working in a fresh food manufacturing environment using common processes, procedures, and equipment
- 1 year or more experience applying and enforcing routine Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) in a food environment is essential
