About The Position

Weyerhaeuser is seeking a Production Scheduler for the Buckhannon Engineered Wood Products manufacturing facility located in Buckhannon, West Virginia. The Production Scheduler will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and executing production schedules that align with demand forecasts, inventory requirements, and capacity constraints. This role requires close collaboration with operations, procurement, logistics, and quality teams to ensure production runs efficiently and customer orders are fulfilled on time. The role involves developing and maintaining detailed production schedules for multiple manufacturing departments, ensuring optimal efficiency and resource utilization, and adjusting schedules as necessary in response to production challenges, material shortages, labor constraints, or other unforeseen issues. The scheduler will also assist in the calculation of requirements for raw materials, purchased parts, and packaging supplies based on MRP methodology, ensure accuracy of recorded production data, and provide input to Finance, Operations, and the Business Unit for the sales, inventory, and operations planning (S&OP) process. Additionally, the role includes monitoring daily and weekly performance against predetermined schedules, adjusting as needed to maintain optimal inventory levels and prevent shortages or overstock situations, and ensuring all customer orders are scheduled, produced, and completed per the schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Create, manage, and update the production schedule based on sales forecasts, customer orders, and inventory levels.
  • Balance production capacity with material availability to optimize throughput and minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with procurement to ensure timely availability of raw materials and packaging.
  • Partner with production and quality teams to align schedules with equipment readiness, labor availability, and compliance standards.
  • Monitor schedule adherence, identify risks, and recommend corrective actions to maintain on-time delivery.
  • Analyze performance metrics (capacity utilization, yield, waste,) to continuously improve scheduling effectiveness.
  • Analyze and report productivity and trends.
  • Develop and maintain detailed production schedules for multiple manufacturing departments, ensuring optimal efficiency and resource utilization.
  • Adjust schedules as necessary in response to production challenges, material shortages, labor constraints, or other unforeseen issues.
  • Assist in the calculation of requirements for raw materials, purchased parts, and packaging supplies based on MRP methodology.
  • Ensure accuracy of recorded production data, including production volume, consumption of raw materials.
  • Train and supervise others in the art of scheduling and the use of the designated software, as needed.
  • Provide input to Finance, Operations, and the Business Unit for the sales, inventory, and operations planning (S&OP) process, especially as it relates to volume and capacity.
  • Prepare production reports.
  • Monitors daily and weekly performance against predetermined schedules, adjusting as needed to maintain optimal inventory levels and prevent shortages or overstock situations.
  • Ensure all customer orders are scheduled, produced, and completed per the schedule.
  • Reports issues to Supply Chain Manager.
  • Make scheduling adjustments as needed to ensure that orders stay on schedule.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
