About The Position

PTC is a leading manufacturer and marketer of welded and cold drawn mechanical steel tubing and tubular shapes, plated bar and tubing, and fabricated parts and precision components. This role is responsible for monitoring production in accordance with guidelines set by operations management to achieve maximum output efficiently, meet promised shipping dates, and ensure raw material is ordered to meet requirements. The position also monitors and manages all inventories to ensure accurate information and meet company expectations, and is responsible for completing monthly inventory close-outs and submitting reports. The primary responsibility is coordinating production activities by preparing formulas, recipes, batches, and internal sales orders, checking the plant's schedule for maximum output, and controlling proper stock inventories. The role involves analyzing procedures for improvements, answering technical questions, and maintaining harmonious relations within the department. Assembling production reports, maintaining schedules to establish sequence and lead time for each operation to meet shipping dates based on sales forecasts or customer orders, and planning/scheduling workflow for each department are key duties. The Production Scheduler communicates with department supervisors to determine the status of production objectives and schedules, makes changes as required, and enters/maintains purchase orders and releases into the software system. This role also assists as a backup in Shipping and Receiving, inputs production sheets into the computer network system, edits information as required, and generates reports from the system as requested by management. The incumbent works with general supervision, making routine decisions based on knowledge of customers, products, and services offered by PTC Alliance. A shared responsibility for product quality and customer service is expected, carried out in accordance with the PTC Quality Management System.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to a 2 year associate college degree with 3 years’ experience in manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Must be computer literate and able to work with programs such as Word, Excel, etc.
  • Able to learn and use HP programs such as e-mail, established programs, etc.
  • Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor production in accordance with guidelines set by operations management to obtain maximum output of production in the most efficient manner.

  • Assemble production reports as required.
  • Maintain schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet shipping dates according to sales forecasts or customer orders.
  • Plan and schedule workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times.
  • Plan sequence of manufacturing operations for guidance of production workers.
  • Communicate with department supervisors to determine status of assigned production objectives and schedules.
  • Make changes as required.
  • Enter and maintain purchase orders and releases into software system.
  • Assist as a backup in Shipping and Receiving.
  • Input production sheets into the computer network system and edit information as required.
  • Generate reports from the computer system as required by management.
