About The Position

At Gold Star Feed & Grain, a provider of feed and nutrition services and commodity trading in the northeastern U.S., primarily to dairies, the Production Operator organizes, performs, and completes the manufacturing of meal and pelleted feeds to order. The role monitors and tests for quality assurance as required and completes daily reports. The position reports to the mill foreman.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Basic computer understanding, math comprehension, and previous plant-environment experience are helpful.
• Mechanical aptitude in prior work history.
• Ability to climb ladders; lift up to 75 pounds; bend, kneel, and stand for long periods; work in confined spaces and at heights; and work long hours in harsh environments, including hot, cold, and dusty conditions.
• Good work habits, including excellent attendance and individual productivity.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen, medical questionnaire, and background check.

• Basic understanding of computers, math comprehension, and previous plant-environment experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate the bag feed manufacturing system, scales, and sewing machines.
• Climb ladders and work at heights on top of the facility.
• Perform weekly scale weight tests.
• Dump bag ingredients into mixes according to formulas.
• Shrink-wrap and label pallets as required per order.
• Load and unload trucks at the dock as needed.
• Wait on customers as needed.
• Load Gold Star bag trucks or bulk trucks for deliveries.
• Pull bag orders for next-day bag truck deliveries.
• Ensure bulk commodities are flowing from bulk bins.
• Refill micro ingredient hoppers if needed.
• Operate the bulk feed manufacturing system.
• Assist the WEM room operator as needed.
• Assist the ingredient receiver as needed.
• Perform daily inspections of fork trucks.
• Perform minor equipment maintenance, including lubrication and adjustments.
• Clean the control room daily.
• Clean the warehouse daily.
• Clean the mill on a regular schedule.
• Assist with other tasks as requested or assigned by management.
