About The Position

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Production Manager will have daily responsibility for managing the workforce, productivity, cost control, continuous process improvement, health and safety, as well as employee training. In support of the company business plan to meet or exceed Scotts Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). This is a leadership level role and will engage in the development of yearly budget and capital improvement projects.

Requirements

  • A postsecondary degree in business, commerce, supply chain management OR related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing or Supply Chain management role
  • Experience using SAP, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, and other planning systems
  • Knowledge of Materials Management
  • Familiarity with an ERP system
  • Understanding of Cross Functional roles and responsibilities related to S&OP Planning, forecasting and the required outputs
  • Strong business acumen to identify operational issues and proactively drive solutions

Responsibilities

  • Directly leads and manages Department Supervisors
  • Effectively lead people
  • Works collaboratively with Logistics, Yard, Production Planning, QA Technician, HR, Finance to ensure company financials are met or exceeded
  • Oversees the production planning, staffing, and day-to-day manufacturing operations in a cost-effective manner, accurately track and record KPI’s
  • Troubleshoots and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays
  • Ensures the efficient management of operations of a multiple shift production facility and ensures the proper functioning of equipment identifying and resolving potential problems
  • Drives implementation and ensures compliance and adoption of company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Analyzes data drawn from production reports to identify possible improvements, reduce losses and the number of breakdowns as well as improve efficiency and product quality
