About The Position

Cornerstone Building Brands is hiring a Production Associate for its manufacturing operation in Gaffney, South Carolina. The associate inspects extruded products for appearance, size, length, and functional quality; routes, cuts, sorts, and packages products to specifications; assembles and labels bundles; maintains required paperwork; and supports safe, efficient production. The role also includes helping with equipment and line issues, product and die changes, shutdown tasks, housekeeping, and communication between shifts. The position is on second shift, Monday through Friday, from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. Base pay is $16.00 per hour, with a $1.00-per-hour second-shift differential.

Requirements

At least 6 months of production or manufacturing experience.
Ability to read and write and perform basic math as required by the job.
Ability to read draft drawings and use tape measures, calipers, micrometers, and radius gages.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds continually above shoulder height and below the waist.
Excellent manual dexterity and ability to concentrate for sustained periods.
Good communication skills and ability to interact with others.
Common sense, a positive attitude, excellent attendance, quality and safety awareness, and ability to work as a team member.
Ability to perform extensive standing and frequent bending, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, twisting, and walking.
Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled facility.
Ability to wear hearing protection and safety glasses and use a tape measure, sawing glove, hack saw, packing gloves, stamp, and stamp pad.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must safely perform duties, comply with applicable health and safety requirements, and use required personal protective equipment.

Responsibilities

Inspect extruded products for appearance, length, size, and functional defects according to specifications.
Perform recurrent product tests and inspections and notify appropriate personnel of defects.
Route, cut, sort, and box products in accordance with bills of materials and line check sheets.
Assemble bundles and ensure correct packing patterns, product counts, enclosures, carton construction, and labels.
Square, band, heat-seal, and label packed bundles; identify products that can be repackaged to specification.
Set up and operate fabrication equipment, including routers, CMM gang saws, Tiger Saws, heat tunnels, notchers, and crimpers.
Discard unacceptable profiles in the scrap rack and assist with production-line jams or line interruptions.
Assist with color and product die changes, line shutdown tasks, and production equipment maintenance.
Communicate product quality, problems, and work-in-progress status with previous and following shifts.
Complete line packaging paperwork accurately and legibly and punch the time clock before and after shifts.
Perform housekeeping duties, maintain workstation supplies, and keep work zones clean and safe.
Coordinate with Material Handlers to move full bundles and assist with training temporary workers and new hires in Production Associate 1 positions.
Float to relieve other Production Associate 1s for breaks and attend shift meetings and All Hands Forums when required.
Work with Production Associate 2 on optimizing fabrication department workflow and help associates as needed.
Follow health and safety practices, use required personal protective equipment, and report unsafe working conditions or missing tools.
Perform other related duties and assignments as required.
