About The Position

The Production Associate Textiles greets and assists donors and customers courteously, helps unload donations and bring them into the store, sorts and quality-selects apparel into saleable and salvage categories, hangs clothing, affixes price tags, and helps load and unload trucks and trailers. The role also provides support services by working with individuals with disabilities or disadvantages. The associate examines donated items for quality and places them appropriately for pricing and distribution, and prepares clothing racks, bins, and other items for the store. The position supports store production and sales goals while helping donations reach the sales floor in a timely manner. It requires adherence to Goodwill Industries of El Paso, Inc. policies, procedures, safety rules, and production standards.

Requirements

Ability to lift at least 30 pounds and stand for long periods.
Ability to bend, reach, and stretch repeatedly during a shift and move throughout the store, production area, and donation center or site.
Ability to meet daily production requirements of 700 pieces or the applicable textile production standard.
Ability to read, write, and speak English is preferred.
Basic math aptitude.
Ability to follow written or verbal instructions.
Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
Willingness to transfer to other stores as requested.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to develop and maintain effective professional working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, customers, donors, and people receiving services.
Ability to maintain a positive, friendly attitude and a neat, clean, well-groomed appearance.
Ability to provide support services to people with disabilities or disadvantages and assist in Goodwill Industries of El Paso, Inc.'s rehabilitation process.
A pleasant and friendly attitude.
Ability to make quick decisions about merchandise quality.

Responsibilities

Greet donors promptly and courteously, assist with unloading donations, offer tax receipts, maintain accurate daily donor counts, and thank donors.
Examine donated items for quality and sort and place merchandise in appropriate saleable or salvage categories and locations.
Prepare clothing racks, bins, and other items for the store.
Hang textiles correctly, affix price tags, transport merchandise to the sales floor, and display it in the appropriate location.
Meet hang-count, sorting, pricing, and other production standards.
Maintain a neat and orderly store and processing area, including returning merchandise, rearranging items, dusting, sweeping, and performing other housekeeping duties.
Clean toppers and replace and display merchandise according to guidelines and procedures.
Assist in achieving production and sales goals for the store.
Suggest improvements to material flow and job tasks to the supervisor.
Help secure store inventory and observe customers to reduce pilferage of Goodwill property.
Attend required meetings and training sessions and comply with company policies and procedures.
Maintain acceptable attendance, personal hygiene, and dress-code standards, including wearing a company-issued name badge.
Work with store management and associates to move donations to the sales floor in a timely manner.
Model excellent work habits and respectful conduct for employees and program participants, including individuals receiving rehabilitative services.
Follow safety rules, maintain the assigned area's general upkeep, and report accidents or injuries immediately.
Maintain confidentiality regarding Goodwill Industries of El Paso, Inc. and people receiving services.
Provide support services to individuals with disabilities or disadvantages and assist in the rehabilitation process.
Assist in other areas as requested.
