About The Position

The Production Assistant is responsible for television production duties needed to record scenes for live and recorded broadcasts. The role involves composing and framing camera shots, operating studio and remote cameras during live broadcasts, and producing graphics for newscasts. The assistant works with directors and crew members to achieve desired sequences, camera movements, effects, and lighting.

Requirements

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines, and other office equipment.
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Compose and frame camera shots, applying technical knowledge of lighting, lenses, and camera settings to achieve the effects sought by directors.
• Adjust camera positions and controls to change focus, exposure, and lighting as requested by the director.
• Operate studio cameras during live broadcasts.
• Operate remote cameras during live broadcasts.
• Confer with directors and other crew members about sequences, desired effects, camera movements, and lighting requirements.
• Set up cameras and related equipment.
• Test, clean, maintain, and repair camera equipment.
• Produce and create graphics for newscasts.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
