About The Position

As owner of the product development milestones for their respective categories, the assistant product manager would own the timeliness of the product’s checkpoint approvals from ideation to shelf. A successful assistant product manager can work collaboratively and professionally with many different team members both internally and externally to ensure their products meet the quality, packaging guidelines and brand essence expectations of the OWN Brands of Staples Canada. This is a unique opportunity to be a part of the exciting beginning of the OWN Brands department. With this, this position offers the ability to be a part of the beginning of many new administrative processes. For this reason, the successful candidate would be able to offer their perspective on how to best take on the documentation and tracking of both the current assortment and future expansion of our branded products. This role will change the way we catalogue and keep tabs on all aspects of the product development process, a true opportunity to map the success and assurance of the future of Staples Canada. Requirements

  • Highschool education required, post-secondary education a bonus.
  • Excellent communication skills required: written, verbal, formal presentation creation, email professionalism.
  • Able to pull and organize sales data to report back on root causes of financial analysis.
  • Experience writing detailed documents and organizing master data into efficient housing systems.
  • Relatable experience in a similar role or field.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience monitoring packaging and QA reports a bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Create tracking system to collect and store all current financials, vendor information, packaging, and quality assurance documents by category.
  • Work closely with our systems, online websites, internal teams and vendor partners to successfully build out a systematic go-forward database.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with product manager, merchandising teams, vendor partners, packaging and quality assurance to achieve the timeline checkpoints of the product timelines to launch successfully.
  • Problem solves to expedite when required, and use keen attention to detail to be able to confidently take responsibility for the final on-shelf details.
  • Weekly sales reporting for OB team and quarterly in-depth financial share-backs, inclusive of insight pairings to advise key findings on performance by category.
  • Responsible for maintaining a private label brand vs national brand sales comparison file to ensure our brand architecture guardrails are being well maintained with the most current system costing.
