About The Position

Darling Ingredients is a global leader in providing natural and sustainable ingredients for the food, feed and fuel sectors. Conducting business as Darling International Canada Inc. in Canada, Darling operates six processing facilities across the country and is Canada's largest provider of rendering and recycling services to the food industry. Darling provides essential services to the food industry through the efficient and environmentally responsible management of collecting, processing and converting by-products into ingredients for the animal feed, pet food, aquaculture, fertilizer and biofuel industries. Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, the Product Safety & Quality Assurance Coordinator will take ownership of all aspects of the site PSQA program, including coordinating related regulatory programs while maintaining a safe workplace. This is a 12-month maternity contract.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Science, Food Science or related field with Quality Assurance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Recent graduates are welcome to apply.
  • Understanding of HACCP and its application to manufacturing.
  • Superb organizational and administrative skills.
  • Analytical aptitude to support fact-based decision making.
  • Strong team player.
  • Self-motivated and capable of delivering outcomes with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and develop all aspects of site-specific Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) program (e.g. SOPs, training content, etc.).
  • Coordinate all licenses and permits associated with external stakeholders while maintaining positive relationships.
  • Maintain accurate PSQA records database and documentation suitable for external agency audits.
  • Embrace and improve on "zero accident" vision and policies with respect to all facility activities.
  • Provide accurate and timely execution of weekly and monthly financial reporting and analysis and other administrative duties as required.
  • Prepare the site for and manage all internal, regulatory and third-party audits and inspections.
  • Lead all site HACCP team meetings, follow up corrective actions.
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the AODA, ESA, OHSA and other federal, and provincial standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
